Type “Smoothie Recipe” into the Google search bar and it brings up over 2,030,000 results.
Umm… okay. That’s not overwhelming or anything.
Listen, I don’t need 2 million smoothie recipes. I just need a handful of recipes to pull out on those hot summer days when we’re in the mood for the cold deliciousness of a smoothie.
But who wants to scour through dozens of smoothie recipes, most of which are pretty much the same? For this week’s Five Things Tuesday post, I’m sharing with you FIVE delightful, and very, very DIFFERENT smoothie recipes to fit everyone’s taste.
So here goes…
The Thick and Creamy Chocolate Smoothie from Running With Spoons gets its chocolaty goodness from cocoa and chocolate protein powder, and it uses a banana to add some thickness and pack in extra vitamins. But where it offers the option of adding some nut butter, let me suggest you try some Speculoos Cookie and Cocoa Swirl instead! Trust me: It can only be GOOD!
This Wake Me Up Coffee Smoothie from Live Eat Learn is a breakfast pick-me-up in a glass. Besides coffee, it contains a banana and rolled oats! That’s a lot of early morning goodness in one cool beverage!
I love this Sunny Citrus Smoothie from Whole Foods Market because it uses oranges, lemons, AND grapefruit! You don’t get much more citrusy than that! And citrus fruits are perfectly refreshing on a hot summer day.
Mixed Fruit Smoothie:
This Mixed Berry Smoothie from Gal on a Mission is sure to be a people-pleaser. Mixed fruit smoothies always seem especially popular, just because they tend to mix the delicious flavors and antioxidant power of multiple berries in a fresh and tasty way most fruity desserts just can’t equal.
For a smoothie-making newbie, adding spinach to a smoothie can seem a little, well… weird. But I like the Beginner’s Luck Green Smoothie from 100 Days of Real Food because the recipe is so full of tropical fruits that even the pickiest eater will be hard-pressed to actually taste the spinach. And all the Vitamin K, folate, magnesium, potassium, etc., in spinach will add some major health benefits to a delicious treat.
So file these 5 recipes away. Or maybe you should pull out the blender NOW and go to work concocting some of these delicious treats. Your tastebuds, (AND your body!) will thank you!
