You know what I love about cobblers? The delightful imperfection of them!
Cobblers are amazing, not only because they TASTE amazing, but because they don’t have to be perfect. You know as well as I do that some foods are as much about presentation as flavor. But not true with cobblers! Cobblers can look… well… not so pretty, and so long as that fruity flavor and that little bit crispy, little bit gooey consistency is there, nobody minds!
So if you’re a fan of fruit pies, and you care more about flavor than appearances, cobblers are definitely for you! And here are a few cobbler recipes to tuck away for future reference…
So is peach cobbler everybody’s favorite, or is it just my imagination? I don’t know that I’ve ever met a peach cobbler I didn’t like, but this Fresh Peach Cobbler from Food.com is exceptionally good. You can substitute canned peaches for the fresh and it’s still amazing. But don’t skip the part about the sugar mixture and the boiling water poured over the top. It creates this light crispiness you don’t want to miss!
If apple is more your cup of tea, try the Best Ever Apple Cobbler from Wicked Good Kitchen. This one offers a gluten-free option, plus gives you the choice between a crumble topping and a cinnamon roll crust. It looks delish!
Ree Drummond produces some incredible recipes. She shares more than one blackberry cobbler recipe on her blog, but this is her first. It’s a version of what some people call “Magic Fruit Cobbler”, where you pour the batter first, then top it with fruit, and then the batter rises as it bakes. I think it makes for a prettier presentation, if you’re into that sort of thing, but the flavor is great, too!
For some, you just can’t beat the good, old-fashioned flavor of blackberry cobbler, so check out Blackberry Cobbler #1 from The Pioneer Woman.
Personally, I feel like strawberries cannot be improved upon by cooking them! I mean, take a bite of a fresh, juicy ripe strawberry and then prove to me how baking it makes it better.
But I realize a lot of people LOVE strawberry pies and cobblers, so how could I not include a recipe? This Fresh Strawberry Cobbler from Divas Can Cook looks like a winner, perfect for a Sunday dinner, picnic, or potluck.
This Best Summer Blueberry-Cherry Cobbler from Kentucky Sketches looks great! But that blogger-lady looks a little familiar… 😉
Yes, I’m tooting my own horn here, but this is a great cobbler recipe. I love the mixture, but if you prefer all blueberries, just replace the cherries with more blueberries. If you’re a cherry lover, replace the blueberries with more cherries! It’ll be great either way!
This post inspired me to do a little cobbler baking. I made peach of course, and my husband and kids raved about it. And you know what? It wasn’t pretty.
But it was cobbler: It didn’t have to be pretty! But it sure was gooood!
